Solution methods for axisymmetric problems of elasticity and thermoelasticity in finite and infinite domains exhibiting radial or axial nonhomogeneity are reviewed. Special attention is given to the methods for analysis of contact problems for nonhomogeneous half space based on the bilateral‐conjugation method along with the method of direct integration for the problems in terms of stresses.
Professor Yuriy Tokovyy is currently the head of the department of solid mechanics at National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine. He obtained his PhD (Mechanics of Solids) at the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in 2003. In 2013, he received his Doctor‐of‐Sciences (Mechanics of Solids) degree from the Ministry of Science and Education of Ukraine. The main research interests: direct and inverse problems of thermomechanics of nonhomogeneous and thermo‐sensitive solids, analytical and semianalytical methods of mathematical physics. He published over 220 scientific papers, a number of critical reviews and encyclopedia essays. He is a Board member of several scientific journals (Journal of Thermal Stresses, Bulletin of the Donetsk University A, Mathematical Methods and Physico‐Mechanical Fields). In 2012 – 2013, he was engaged as a section editor of the “Encyclopedia of Thermal Stresses” (Springer, 2014).
